Am I going to be an orphan?

The LA Times has picked up the story of HUC-JIR’s financial woes. Hebrew Union has three campuses here in the US: New York, LA, and Cincinnati. The Cincinnati campus is the oldest and home of the grad school, but if the plan is to contract to only one campus then I can pretty much guarantee that it won’t be Cincinnati. I would guess that it would be the New York campus that would remain, but I don’t really have any more information than is in the article. Nothing is set in stone yet so we’ll see if the economy can turn around in time to avert the danger.

I guess I better start working on my dissertation.

    I read the Cincinnati Enquirer story today. I wonder if there’s a way to get the degree without the campus.

    One thing’s reassuring: at least right now, people (the administration, students) are acting like there will be a next year at HUC.

  2. I feel bad for the students that matriculated this past year. At least they will make allowances for us to finish our writing, but finishing class work…
